In the Greek myth, Persephone was the lovely maiden who was abducted by Hades and carried to the Underworld. Spending six months in the Upper World and six months in the Underworld, she becomes the Queen of the Underworld, and it is the goddess Persephone who stands at the threshold between the two worlds to help those at the crossroads of light and dark.
All the Daughters of Persephone have crossed the threshold from maidenhood to womanhood by learning the lessons of the dark. They have grown into a grace and beauty and wisdom that only comes form the hard work of integrating darkness and light. Daughters of Persephone were born female, but they have earned their womanhood.
